Reef Snorkeling

Swim the world's second-largest barrier reef

2–3 hours (or build it into a full island day)FamiliesFirst-timersOcean lovers

Roatán sits right on the Mesoamerican Reef, the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, and some of its best snorkeling is just a few relaxed steps off the sand. Your guide takes you to the day's calmest, clearest spots, from West Bay's turquoise shallows to the famous Blue Hole.

First-timers and kids are welcome: we pick easy entry points, take it at your pace, and make sure everyone gets their moment with the parrotfish, rays and (if you're lucky) a sea turtle.

Highlights

  • Snorkel straight off powder-white beaches
  • Crystal-clear water on the Mesoamerican Reef
  • Calm, beginner-friendly entry points
  • Plenty of beach time built in

Know before you go

  • Bring swimwear, a towel and reef-safe sunscreen
  • Gear can be arranged, tell us your group's sizes
  • Non-swimmers can relax on the beach or try the glass-bottom boat instead
